Appalachian State University is in the process of seeking candidacy for accreditation of this MSW Program with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).  We anticipate being accepted into candidacy for accreditation prior to the initiation of the part-time off-campus, cohort based MSW Program, scheduled to launch in January, 2007.  The social work faculty at Appalachian plan to continue to work closely with CSWE in order to ensure that this program is fully accredited by fall, 2009.  Students who graduate prior to this time are considered graduates of an accredited program retroactively, based on a favorable review for accreditation.  Finally, in adhering to CSWE standards, academic credit is not provided for life or previous work experience.
