Lauren Renkert earned a BSW from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton , Florida , an MSW from Barry University in North Miami , Florida , and a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville . She has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 1988 and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NC since 1994. She has extensive clinical practice experience working with children, adults, and families in public and private agencies. She has worked with diverse populations, including the elderly, people of ethnic minorities, gay and lesbian individuals, and those with developmental disabilities. Dr. Renkert has provided clinical supervision and consultation for many professionals and students in various social service agencies.
Dr. Renkert's teaching experience prior to joining the faculty at ASU includes teaching prepared childbirth classes, human sexuality and family life education for children and adults, and presentations and workshops on a variety of topics and issues. She began teaching in the Social Work Program at ASU in 1994 and joined the faculty on a full-time basis in 2000. Dr. Renkert teaches a number of courses, primarily related to Social Work practice.
Dr. Renkert's interests and areas of expertise include mental health, clinical practice, and fathering. She serves as the Principal Investigator for the NC Methamphetamine Treatment Initiative/ASU Partnership for Methamphetamine Treatment Program Development and Evaluation. This project includes a multi-site evaluation of methamphetamine treatment initiatives in northwestern NC. Dr. Renkert also serves as the Chairperson of the Clinical Services Advisory Board of ASU's Institute for Health and Human Services and is working with others in the university and community to develop and enhance clinical services for children, adults, and families in the region. |
