Leon Ginsberg has been the director of the social work program since 2006. He formerly served as Dean of social work at West Virginia University and Carolina Distinguished Professor and Dean at the University of South Carolina . He was Commissioner of Human Services in West Virginia, 1977-84. He has written or edited some 20 books on social work subjects and is a frequent author of social work articles. He edits the journal Administration in Social Work. His primary teaching areas are social welfare policy and services and social work research.
